
An Important Request for the Conservation of World National Heritage Site - Shiretoko
In July 2005, the extremely important value of the undisturbed natural environment and ecosystem of Shiretoko was internationally recognised, and Shiretoko was officially registered as a World Natural Heritage Site.
In order to reduce the effects of the
- Protection of Vegetation
- Do not bring any non-native species of plant into the region.
Do not enter fragile areas.
Do not pick plants or flowers.
- Protection of Wild Animals
- Do not enter or go near to bird nesting areas.
Do not give food or rubbish to wild animals.
- Limitation of Action
- Do not camp anywhere other than specified campsites.
Open-air fires are strictly prohibited.
Always take your rubbish away with you.
Do not use soap or detergents.
- Others
- Do not do anything that may interfere with the local fishing industry.
Always follow the instructions of the guide/person in charge.
